As an amateur beekeeper can start producing lots of honey.

For two, I have a goal to be self sustainable. Honey provides a sweetener, antibiotic, countless other benefits and I can make additional income.

For three, bees provide a vital function for not only my garden, but for the world. Beekeeping goes hand - in - hand with gardening. It helps in pollination.

For four, bees are extremely interesting to me. Very rarely do you see such a complex and intelligent creature in such a small package. They have entire societies with class levels and beautiful structures and they are only a couple grams in weight. That’s pretty amazing to me.

For five, I live in area where there is no heavy use of pesticide and greenery is all around.

Lastly, I originally was afraid of bees, like terrified. If I heard a buzz I would literally run away. I wanted to prove to myself that I can control myself and that these creatures are not evil.

A final word, bee keeping isn’t super expensive. Bees are relatively low maintenance. You just have to be smart in your set up.

Preparing for kiwi plant rootstock ( part 1 )

Kiwi berries are edible fruits. We plough the site and removed all weeds, roots, stone and stumps. we mixed 1 part of compost with 2 parts of soil. Nursery beds are prepared 1-1.2 m wide, 3-4 cm tall. gap between each beds are 5-6 cm. length are not so important, but commonly 5 - 10 m.

Water movement becomes uniform and drainage of excess water is very effective in nursery bed. so we can take higher percentage of seed germination. we are preparing in green house, so temperature control also plays important roll in germinating seeds in late winter, which is most dry season of the year.

alternatively people cover there nursery bed with polythene sheet to maintain humidity. but in both green house and nursery bed cover with polythene sheet can germinate seeds.

Removing sees from kiwi

Seeds of kiwi are very small so it was very difficult to separate seeds from fruits. so we had to create our own idea. Mature Kiwi are soft so we used spone to collect inner part of fruits. collected in large tray and washed with water until it was separated from its flesh. It is not so easy process. It took me very long time and effort.

Time to put seeds in Nursery bed

Before seeds dry or before seeds dye, we had to put seeds in soil. However, as farmers become more aware of the potential cash crop, they are beginning to grow orange. There are numerous opportunities for commercial orange cultivation in mountainous areas, yet Nepal only has a few farms that cultivate oranges.

Orange (Citrus plant) is grown under both subtropical and tropical
conditions. Dry and arid conditions, coupled with distinct summer and winter
having low rainfall are most favorable for the growth of the sweet orange.
Rainfall seems to be unimportant if irrigation is provided but atmospheric
humidity exerts a great influence.
The orange farming can be grown on a wide range of soils from clay to
very light sands, with ph ranging from 6.0 to 8.0. The tree is particularly
sensitive to high concentrations of salts and can not stand water logging.

Orange trees are grown at altitudes between 600 and 1,400 meters in Nepal. Orange tree are beautiful plant which not only gives good look for our garden it also gives fruits. In Nepal 80 percent of the total population depends on agriculture for their livelihood, which means orange farming can be better option for a farmer to grow as a cash crop. The country's mid-hill region is a key location for the commercial production of oranges. so this is the major cause behind the attracted towards this farming. Orange farming can help for employment, income, living standard and growth in socio-economic status of farmers. So this are the main importance of orange farming.

We KISHAN AGRO FARM NAGARKOT is farming orange professionally since 50 yrs, now we have decided to work as nursery, distribute plants, and help farmers to convert to scientific farming. We have been germinating orange from seed, grafting and planting. so we have decided to share our knowledge thru this page.

When it comes to planting our own orange tree or other citrus trees, the major things to keep in mind are how to grow, how to plant, where to plant, and how to care for your budding fruits and that is why we are here.

How to grow ?

Gathering and Selection of orange.

For germinating plant from seed we need fresh orange collected directly form garden. Mature and good quality of oranges are selected for this process. Damaged by insects, bird and hill storms are not qualified for this process. So only Mature and good quality are selected.

Gathering orange for seeds

Removing seeds

Slice an orange in half to reveal the seeds. Where temperature is under control and humidity is maintained.

Watering seeds also plays very important roll. Over watering is very unsuitable for even well grown tree of orange. Thus watering also plays very important roll for germination of seeds. Soil should not be totally dry, but it must be moist.

Our nursery bed gets dry very quickly. It is very risky to water frequently, which may cause over watering. again if we don't water, soil gets completely dry. so this was a main problem. So, mulching is the best solution for this problem. Mulching helps to keep our nursery bed moist. which helps seed to grow fast.

<georss:box>27.726013959681168 85.50668736557617 27.73361124031883 85.515270434423826</georss:box>

Care for the Arrow Head plants.

The arrowhead plant, arrowhead vine, arrowhead philodendron,
goosefoot, nephthytis, African evergreen, and American evergreen are some
of its common names. The plant has naturalized in the West Indies, Florida,
Texas, Hawaii, and other locations outside of its native range throughout a
large stretch of Latin America extending from Mexico to Bolivia.

Young Arrowhead Plants are typically characterized by their
upright clusters of stems. As the Arrowhead matures, it can produce trailing or
climbing stems and larger leaves. If its youthful shape is preferred, simply
trim it as desired.

Description

It clings by its roots and ascends a few meters high over
the tropical jungle trees. The varieties grown inside can grow up to 1.5 meters
tall (4.9 ft). The plant develops 6-7 leaves and grows to a height of around 30
cm (12 in) during the year. Its solitary, up to 30 cm (12 in) long, typically
arrow-shaped leaves. The leaves have a deep green color and have no variegation
in the wild. The leaves of cultivated species come in a variety of green tones,
frequently a light green, and are typically covered in various types of tannins
with a lighter color. There are various varieties of variegated plants, with
the main variations being the placement and size of the cream or white markings.
Some leaves are predominantly white, pink, or yellow in color. Its flowers are
small, greenish or whitish on spadices within light-yellow through green
spathes. However, the plants grown indoors do not bloom, aside from the older,
well-cared-for specimens.

How to take care of Arrow head?

It needs some assistance. It can be raised as an indoor
plant as well. The soil kept consistently moistened. While varieties with dark
green leaves can grow in a darker environment, those with pink, reddish, or
white patterns on their leaves need a bright environment. Summertime maximum
temperatures shouldn't rise above 38 °C (100 °F). Winter temperatures shouldn't
drop below 0 °C (32 °F). It should be watered 2-3 times a week in the summer
but much less frequently in the winter because it prefers wet air.

The plant pot should be placed in a larger container with
continuously moist peat and misted with water each day to maintain an
appropriate humidity level. A moist towel should be used to clear up dusty
leaves. Feed in the summer by using a little amount of water-dissolved
fertilizers. After a few years of cultivation, the plant loses its aesthetic
appeal, at which point it is advised to prune it down so that new shoots can
grow. Only transfer it when absolutely required.

Additionally, Syngonium podophyllum can be grown in water.
If you want to grow plants in water, make frequent water changes to ensure that
the water is always properly oxygenated.

How to propagate Arrow head?

The plant can be propagated by cuttings placed directly in
potting compost or in water. Nevertheless, as long as the correct section of
the plant is cut, both techniques have a decent success rate. Compared to
cuttings from lower parts of the shoots, cuttings from the top of the shoots
are simpler to root.

Difficuty level to grow arrowhead plant?

The arrowhead plant (Syngonium podophyllum) is generally considered easy to grow. It thrives in a range of conditions, tolerates low light, and is forgiving of irregular watering. However, it does prefer humid environments, so maintaining humidity can enhance its growth. Overall, it’s a great choice for beginners.

How to make potting mix for arrowhead, syngronium

To make a potting mix for Arrowhead plant (Syngonium), you need a blend that provides good drainage, aeration, and moisture retention, as these plants thrive in slightly moist but not soggy soil. Here's a simple recipe you can use:

Ingredients:

    1. Peat moss or coco coir – 40%

-This helps retain moisture without making the mix too soggy.

    2. Perlite or pumice – 30%

                - Provides good drainage and aeration to prevent waterlogging.

    3. Pine bark or orchid bark – 20%

                - Adds aeration and organic matter to the mix, mimicking the natural environment where these plants grow.

    4. Compost or worm castings – 10%

                - Provides nutrients for healthy plant growth.

Instructions:

1. In a large container or bucket, combine the peat moss (or coco coir) and perlite (or pumice) in a 4:3 ratio.

2. Add the pine bark and mix it in thoroughly.

3. Add the compost or worm castings to provide nutrients and stir well.

4. Make sure the mix is loose and well-aerated, as Syngonium doesn’t like compacted soil.

5. Optionally, you can mix in a small amount of charcoal to help filter impurities and keep the soil fresh

Tips:

1. Watering: Keep the soil moist but avoid waterlogging, as Syngonium is prone to root rot.

2. Repotting: Repot every 1-2 years with fresh soil to ensure proper nutrition and avoid soil compaction.

Kattike Bhanjyang

Kattike Bhanjyang (Nepali:कत्तिके भञ्ज्याङ ) is a former Village Development Committee located 32 km west of Kathmandu, Nepal in Kathmandu District in Bagmati Province. It is known for a sunrise view of the Himalayas as well as other peaks of the Himalayan range of Nepal. Kattike Bhanjyang also offers a panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley. The scenic beauty of the place makes it a very popular hiking route for tourists. It is located approximately 7000 ft (2000 m) above sea level and 28 km from Kathmandu International Airport.

Kattike Bhanjyang commands one of the broadest views of the Himalayas in the Kathmandu valley (8 Himalayan ranges of Nepal out of 13 from here). The ranges include Annapurna range, Manaslu range, Ganesh himal range, Langtang range, Jugal range, Rolwaling range, Mahalangur range (Everest range) and Numbur range with views of the Kathmandu valley and Shivapuri National Park.
